In the workplace, employees are subject to a number of risks, ranging from physical and accidental hazards to biological and chemical threats. It is therefore the duty of every company to provide the necessary safety and protection so that its workers can carry out their activities with peace of mind. This is where the Risk Management Program (RMP) comes in.

Considered one of the biggest changes in occupational safety, the implementation of the RMP became mandatory for organizations throughout the country as of January 2022.

By implementing the tool, companies are able to more clearly identify the main risks present in their processes and activities, allowing preventive measures to be taken to protect workers' integrity. But do you really know what an RMP is and how Chat GPT can be used as an ally in implementing and updating the model? Read on and find out!

What is PGR?

PGR

First of all, it is essential to understand what exactly the Risk Management Program is. The RMP is a set of management techniques that must be strictly followed and implemented by companies. The program also includes preventive measures aimed at mitigating or eliminating the risks present in the workplace, promoting greater protection and safety for workers.

The RMP stands out as an important risk management tool, as it is able to identify, assess and control potential damage and, as a result, prevent the occurrence of accidents, injuries and occupational illnesses. The main objectives of this program are:

  1. Identify possible dangers to workers' health;
  2. Assess occupational threats and specify the level of risk;
  3. Implement preventive measures in accordance with the risk classification;
  4. Monitoring the control of occupational risks.

But remember: to be effective, the RMP needs to be structured according to the needs of each company. In addition to characterizing the risks and classifying the risk levels in order to choose the best preventive actions. A good tip is to enlist the help of specialized risk management software to ensure the effectiveness of the program, such as Actio Risk Management

But how does this tool work?

For the RMP to work properly, it must contain two basic documents: the Risk Inventory and the Action Plan.

The risk inventory is a document used to list and identify the risks present in each employee activity, such as chemical, physical, biological and accident risks, for example.

To be carried out correctly, the Occupational Risk Inventory must include at least the following information:

  1.  Defining the processes and needs of the work environment;
  2.  Describe the activities carried out;
  3.  Explain the dangers, possible injuries or problems to workers' health, identify the sources or circumstances of the risks generated by the experts. It also indicates the groups of workers subject to the risks and the preventive measures implemented;
  4.  Monitor the data from the preliminary analysis or exposure to physical, chemical and biological agents, as well as the results of the ergonomic assessment, under the terms of NR-17;
  5.  Risk assessment, including classification for the purpose of drawing up the action plan;
  6.  Describe the criteria adopted for risk assessment and decision-making.

In the case of the Action Plan, the document shows in detail how the risks present in the inventory will be controlled. The information that must be included in the template is:

  1. The company must draw up an action plan, indicating the preventive measures to be adopted, improved or maintained
  2. For preventive measures, a schedule must be kept containing ways of monitoring and measuring results.

Now all you have to do is monitor the implementation status of both documents to see if the action has worked for your company. If you're still having trouble drawing up the RMP, I recommend that you enlist the help of a complete software package, which now includes ChatGPT integration in its system. Actio Risk Management
