Have you ever stopped to think about how you'd like to see your company in 5 years? That's what you do when you start developing strategic planning.

The goal is precisely to set goals so that your business progresses sustainably, has the capacity to scale sales, gain more space in the job market, and have a known—and recognized—brand in its segment.

In today's post, we've selected 4 points that are essential for your strategic planning. How about checking them out?

1. Review your company's vision

You know that old question we ask children, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Well, vision is the expression of what your company aims to be in the near future.

It is important to reflect on the organizational vision because it guides the strategic management of the organization, from setting goals to forming partnerships.

The business vision must be shared with all employees and permeate the decisions of senior management, so that it is rooted in every action taken in the corporate environment.

When redoing your strategic planning, review your goals, rewrite your vision, and inform everyone about the new guidelines for the next 5-year period.

2. Define a method for your strategic planning

There are several ways to carry out a company's strategic planning, from the simplest and most intuitive to the most complex. You can opt for the Business Model Canvas, for example, which involves filling out a map of your business's key information.

Another option is to use the BSC – Balanced Scorecard, which offers more detailed strategic planning, based on goals and performance indicators.

It is still possible to combine several methods and thus make your management even more strategic. This is possible with the use of strategic management software specially developed to generate more results for the organization.

3. Evaluate the organizational climate

The only way to achieve the company's vision is to have the unconditional support of its employees, after all, they are the ones who make the delivery of its products or services to customers possible. From this perspective, fostering a collaborative work environment that values people is fundamental.

Start by assessing the Gross National Happiness Index (FIB) from your company. This can be done by applying anonymous questionnaires and then consolidating the data, or by using automated measurement tools.

Organizational climate research is another way to measure employee satisfaction with the company. Questions are evaluated regarding aspects like the work environment, salaries, benefits, and relationships with superiors, for example.

Always base yourself on data

Finally, to have a successful strategic plan, you need to base your decisions on data. Analyze your company's evolution over the past few years and, based on history, define your next goals.

Review the mistakes made and create a lessons learned document, also listing the successes. This way, it is possible to share knowledge and strengthen best practices within the organizational environment.

Also remember to monitor your performance indicators with suitable tools, in order to act proactively in maximizing results. Immediate actions prevent resource waste and enhance brand recognition in the market.
