Managing projects requires organization in order to achieve the objectives set, with the expected quality, in accordance with a timetable and following cost planning. All this becomes easier when the project management system is combined with a strategic management softwareEverything can be visualized and controlled in a single tool, making it easier to monitor and make decisions.
Many companies use Enterprise Project Management or just Microsoft Project to control their projects. This software can be easily integrated with Gestão Estratégica, Stratec's software. According to Eduardo Costa Ribeiro, the company's technology director, Stratec's software has already been integrated with Microsoft's EPM for some time. "Integration is achieved by making the client's project portfolio database available in EPM, which is then imported into GE," he explains. According to Ribeiro, most of the time the integration is carried out automatically, without generating any rework for the company.
Helineida Ferreira Silva Gonçalves, an IT analyst at the Superior Labor Court, took part in the integration of the two systems in her department. "We had a need to integrate IT projects with the area's general strategy. We already had the EPM, which managed the IT portfolio as a whole, and with the implementation of the Strategic Management software, we had to integrate it to allow visualization of the degree of completion of projects and to facilitate management," she says.
According to Helineida, the process of feeding the software into the TST is not yet automatic, but there are processes within the organization that are followed to keep both updated. "We have a routine that was developed by Stratec, and we carry it out regularly to update the system. It's not done every day, it's done every 3 months," he says.
For Helineida, integration has made it easier to generate information for decision-making and to check on the progress of projects. "Now we can monitor project execution in a single tool. It's much more practical," she says.
Ribeiro also points out that, with the integration, it is possible to go beyond project management: "The imported data allows the client to view the information provided by the EPM in an integrated way with its strategic management system, identifying impacts on strategic objectives and targets. This strengthens their management process, including not only monitoring the execution of actions, but also the organizational results that depend on these actions or projects," he says.
