“The success of organizations depends on results-oriented management. And the role of leadership in this process is extremely important.”
TRT 10th Region creates video to guide the use of Stratec software and highlight the importance of strategic management in the institution.
“The success of organizations depends on results-oriented management. And the role of leadership in this process is of utmost importance.” This is how the orientation video on strategic management, conceived by the TRT of the 10th Region, begins. The video addresses fundamental concepts in strategic management such as planning, results monitoring meetings, corrective actions, decision-making, among others. The video shows that the strategic planning of the Brazilian Judiciary was based on the BSC methodology, allowing organizational strategies to be translated into operational terms that facilitate the achievement of concrete results.
According to Claudio Oliveira, coordinator of strategic management at TRT 10th Region, the video connects the importance of strategy for the institution with Stratec's strategic management software. “The video talks about the process from planning to the use of the software. We present the software as a mechanism for monitoring this process, but we also show the role of leadership in the strategic management process, the value of leadership participation, and the importance of the management process,” he says.
During the approximately five-minute video, the narrator presents the strategic map of the institution, its mission, vision, and values, the strategic objectives divided by themes with cause-and-effect relationships and distributed across perspectives. The narrator also draws attention to the indicators that measure the level of achievement of strategic objectives, project management, and the importance of monitoring goals, which assign deadlines and values to indicators, such as “Judge in 2013, 100% of the processes distributed by 2011.”.
What's most striking about the video is that the organization's biggest challenge isn't strategic planning, but rather its execution. “There's no point in strategic planning if you don't track its execution. The strategy just stays on paper,” Oliveira emphasizes. Therefore, management follow-up meetings at TRT units focus on the decision-making process to address identified critical points.
The monitoring of indicators and all strategic planning is carried out by Stratec's Strategic Management software, known in the TRT units as “Sigest”. Through the software, managers can have a global view of strategy implementation through traffic lights. “Here at TRT 10th Region it has been very good, and based on feedback from other courts as well. People used to try to control it manually and wasted a lot of time. Obviously, there's a learning curve, a time to get used to the system's data entry dates, but for those already using it, the feedback has been very positive,” reveals Oiveira.
