Executive careers in the innovation sector are among the most promising in the country until 2020. This projection comes from a study by the Fundação Instituto de Administração (FIA), which, according to a report by Portal HSM, highlighted the position of CIO (Chief Innovation Officer) in particular. The research was conducted by the Program for the Study of the Future – Profuturo – a department of the institution focused on analyzing labor market trends.
In testimony given for the report, Professor James Wright, one of the research coordinators, analyzes that the need for this type of professional is growing in Brazil and demonstrates that the country needs to improve its management capacity and innovation. For Wright, the investment In process, product, and business model innovation, it is essential for the country to increase its industrial productivity and stand out among developed nations.

For James Wright, the ability to sensitize people to change is one of the fundamental attributes for the CIO, in addition to other important characteristics: “The ability to take risks about what will happen in the future, the sensitivity to identify market needs, and the understanding of how processes work to generate value are valuable attributes in a professional who can come from different areas; but they need to have technical business knowledge, as well as understand marketing and possess excellent interpersonal skills,” defines Wright in a statement published in a report by the HSM portal.
