According to an estimate released by Sebrae, small companies should be responsible for generating 1 million and 300 thousand formal jobs in 2011. The number was projected based on the Ministry of Labor's National Register of Employed and Unemployed Persons (Caged). According to a report by the Sebrae News Agency published by the Exame portal, the volume represents around 76% of the new jobs estimated for the year.

The Ministry of Labor also released data that reflects the importance of micro and small companies for generating jobs in the country. Between January and August, MSEs were responsible for 72.5% of the hiring carried out. Which means that the group of Simples Nacional companies created more than 1 million jobs during the first half of the year.

Another good indication for the sector is the growth in the formalization of small companies. Currently, the numbers show that there are 5.4 million micro and small businesses and individual entrepreneurs opting for Simples. Two years ago, it was estimated that there were around 3.3 million MSEs.

What is now expected, according to the Sebrae survey published on Exame.Com, is greater growth in productive participation. MSEs account for 20% of the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and the volume tends to grow. This will include the adoption of innovation policies that, in Sebrae's analysis, can even make them more competitive in the international market.
