Data released by the president of the National Bank for Social Development (BNDES), Luciano Coutinho, indicates that around 500,000 small entrepreneurs have benefited from the institution's credit lines this year. As reported by Portal Exame, the average amount allocated to each company is about R$ 15,000. In total, the amount of funds released by BNDES in 2011 exceeds R$ 7 billion.
According to Exame.Com, although Cotinho believes that credit concessions to micro and small businesses by BNDES have not been affected by factors such as the international crisis, there are still no official estimates of operations for 2012. This is because, as the Exame Portal report also informs, such a forecast depends on factors such as possible new repercussions of the global economic situation and the country's level of economic activity.
Regarding BNDES's operations with various segments during 2011, the total amount of operations revolves around R$ 140 billion reais, slightly less than the 143.6 billion recorded in 2010; according to data from the Exame.Com article.
