The list of the 50 most influential thinkers in the business world is the subject of a report by the Época Negócios portal about “The Thinkers 50”, an official ranking of the sector. The list is headed by Clayton Christensen, professor at Harvard Business School and one of the greatest experts in the area of innovation. Among the various works he has authored is the book “The Innovation Dilemma”, published in 1997 and, as highlighted in the Época Negócios article, considered the best book in the field that year.

Second place in the ranking went to the authors of the bestseller “Blue Ocean Strategy. How to create new markets and make competition irrelevant.” As the report points out, W. Chan Kim & Renée Mauborgne are professors of strategy and management at INSEAD – The Business School for the World – and argue that the systematic study of actions is a necessity for corporations, as there are no companies and sectors excellent forever.

The third position went to Vijay Govindarajan, professor of International Business at the Tuck School of Business. His classic works include “10 rules for strategic innovations” and “The other side of innovation”. The thinker, also according to Época Negócios, considers that innovation means breaking the routine and dealing with the unpredictable; which requires the ability to manage conflicts between operational and creative teams.

The ranking, called “The Thinkers 50” is carried out by the consultancy Crainer Dearlove, at two-year intervals, according to information contained in the article. In 2009, the first position was occupied by CK Prahalad, PhD from Harvard Business School and professor of strategy at the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. He is one of the authors of “Competindo pelo Futuro” and died shortly after receiving the award.
