Ainda assim, muitas organiza\u00e7\u00f5es os utilizam de forma a produzir um efeito paradoxal: mais controle aparente e menos capacidade real de decis\u00e3o.<\/p>\n<p>O problema n\u00e3o est\u00e1 em medir desempenho, mas na forma como as organiza\u00e7\u00f5es tratam indicadores como um fim \u2013 e n\u00e3o como instrumentos para orientar escolhas e ajustes no dia a dia.<\/p>\n<p>Kaplan e Norton j\u00e1 chamavam aten\u00e7\u00e3o para esse risco ao observar que indicadores s\u00f3 geram valor quando est\u00e3o explicitamente conectados \u00e0 tomada de decis\u00e3o e \u00e0 gest\u00e3o ativa da estrat\u00e9gia. Quando isso n\u00e3o acontece, eles se transformam em mecanismos de controle retrospectivo, \u00fateis para explicar o passado, mas pouco eficazes para orientar o presente (<em>The\u00a0Execution\u00a0Premium<\/em>, Harvard Business Press).\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-medir-bem-nao-e-o-mesmo-que-gerir-bem\" class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-98274157758c0b918783339b17e91e98\"><span id=\"Medir_bem_nao_e_o_mesmo_que_gerir_bem\" class=\"ez-toc-section\"><\/span><mark class=\"has-inline-color\"><strong>Medir bem n\u00e3o \u00e9 o mesmo que gerir bem<\/strong><\/mark><\/h2>\n<p><br \/>Nas \u00faltimas d\u00e9cadas, as organiza\u00e7\u00f5es avan\u00e7aram muito em capacidade de mensura\u00e7\u00e3o.\u00a0Dashboards ficaram mais sofisticados, ferramentas mais poderosas e relat\u00f3rios mais frequentes.\u00a0Mesmo assim, decis\u00f5es continuam lentas.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Isso acontece porque muitos indicadores se concentram em mostrar\u00a0o que j\u00e1 aconteceu: resultados consolidados, varia\u00e7\u00f5es acumuladas ou desvios que j\u00e1 n\u00e3o podem mais ser corrigidos.
